Sports flooring selection

Performance, safety and longevity together.

Sports flooring should be assessed on impact absorption, energy return, slip safety, surface grip, ease of maintenance and usage intensity, not on colour and appearance alone.

Basketball and volleyball courts need controlled grip and a balanced surface that supports players’ movement. Fitness and weight areas focus on equipment traffic, repeated impact and easy cleaning. In multipurpose halls, the line, colour and use requirements of different sports must be resolved on one floor.

ID Flooring supports product selection and installation of sports flooring for school gyms, clubs, municipal facilities, fitness centres and professional training spaces. Subfloor preparation, transition details and court markings are addressed from the start of the project to maintain performance.

Technical evaluation

Sports flooring selection checklist.

Product selection should consider the sport, usage intensity and the facility’s operating plan, not catalogue colour alone.

01

Impact absorption

One of the key performance factors affecting players’ joint load and the feel of the game.

02

Ball rebound and surface finish

Helps keep game behaviour consistent in basketball, volleyball and multipurpose halls.

03

Slip safety

Safe grip is required for quick changes of direction, stopping and repeated movement.

04

Multipurpose use

When a hall is also used for ceremonies, meetings or events, the surface must accommodate furniture traffic.

05

Maintenance plan

Daily cleaning, periodic maintenance and possible repairs are part of product selection.

06

Subfloor and installation

Moisture, flatness, joints and court markings help preserve performance during installation.
